Arlington Rotary has dedicated this year's installation in memory of Anne Mahon Powers and Kathleen Kiely-Dias.

Anne Mahon Powers (1934–2026)

Arlngton Rotary honors Anne Mahon Powers, a distinguished public servant whose career left a lasting impact on the Town of Arlington. She began her service in the Town Clerk’s Office in 1952 and, in 1959, was elected Town Clerk—becoming the first woman elected to a major municipal office in Arlington. She served in that role for nine years before stepping away to raise her family.

Powers returned to public service in 1973 as a member of the Board of Selectmen, where she was later elected and reelected, serving with a reputation for fairness, transparency, and strong advocacy for residents. In 1984, she was again elected Town Clerk, leading the ballot and serving until her retirement in 1993. Across four decades, her work modernized town operations, strengthened public trust, and set enduring standards for civic leadership.

Beyond elected office, Powers remained deeply engaged in the Arlington community through Town Meeting, civic organizations, local media, education, and parish service. Remembered as a trailblazer and a model of integrity, her legacy continues to inspire public service and community involvement in Arlington.

Kathleen R. Kiely‑Dias (1942-2025)

Rotary honors Kathleen R. Kiely‑Dias for her enduring commitment to public service and the Town of Arlington. Throughout her life, Kathleen exemplified Rotary values through steady leadership, thoughtful decision‑making, and an unwavering belief in serving the common good.

A lifelong resident of Arlington, Kathleen devoted herself to strengthening the institutions that support a thriving community. She believed deeply in the importance of education, public health, and responsive local government, and she gave her time and talents generously to advance those causes for the benefit of all residents.

Kathleen served Arlington with distinction as an elected member of both the Arlington School Committee and the Arlington Board of Selectmen. In these roles, she was known for her careful listening, principled judgment, and long‑term perspective. Her leadership helped guide educational policy and municipal decision‑making during periods of change and growth. Her background in education and nursing informed her belief that strong communities are built by attending to both learning and well‑being. Her legacy is found not only in the offices she held, but in the trust she earned and the community she helped sustain. Through her service, she demonstrated how one person’s dedication can leave a lasting and meaningful impact.

Two women who lived the Rotary motto, "Service Above Self" and were dedicated communty leaders in public service.
